  hi acording to a property website called rightmove a kingdom hall in dawlish devon is being sold off.. another poster has told us that in liverpool two more kingdom halls are being sold off, so this has been a good week .

  i was a dub in my teens...1961-68. i lived in Birmingham UK----sometimes referred to as the "2nd city"---2nd to London in population size at that time. there were 3 circuits--and--i suppose--about 2 dozen congregations.

  very few had their own Kingdom Hall. Most met in rented private halls---schools--anywhere that was available to rent. some were really shabby .

  it was always a major achievement when a congregation finally got their own place...usually a used run down place needing a lot of time, effort--and money--to get it to a standard that would be a fine witness to jehovah. this often meant years of savings--donations--from the members. this was before the quick build era began.

  but the members were--proud ( ? ) of their achievement. it created a sense of really belonging. and new memberships were growing.

  fast forward 50 years. here we are---congregations having their halls snatched away from around them. the one in the town where i live---one of the first quick builds in the UK---the members turfed out and the place sold for half a million.

  shame on you watchtower.

  but at least it shows what you really are. pity the fools cant open their eyes and see whats going on.

  wow--£350 grand for the hall being sold. so that money will build a 1000 kingdom shacks in africa.!

  you can see why the WTS is cherry picking some to be sold---not enough attending--and a nice big wad of money.

  the UK DVLA run a website of unissued registrations that anyone can buy and assign to their vehicle. there are 1000's available. my plate--M 666 XJW cost me £250 including the tranfer fee and value added tax ( VAT ).

  i sold the car last november--but retained the registration ( termed on retention ). this cost me £80----which includes applying it to another car if i choose to.

  New letter about Circuit Conventions accounting procedures

  i hope that one of the friends will post the letter soon.

  i heard that on 3/27/2017 a letter with new instructions about the accounts at the circuit conventions was released.

  the letter seems to adopt many of the corrections that had been suggested here at the forum, among other things during the accounts report they will be no mention of the per capita and the amount due is going to be released only to the elders.

  i dont know if this is becoming a national thing or even globally.

  but im hearing more and more people i knew from my jw days have taken their kids out of school to home school them instead.

  in my sisters case she's taken her 8yo and 6yo children out already and her 3yo wont ever start a school.

  the only couple i knew of--here in the UK--that home schooled their ineducable offspring were shining examples of low life trash--weed smoking--drowning in debt--living in rented squalor. they just couldnt be bothered to get out of bed in the morning. home schooled meant--no schooled.

  i know i am, to me its a bit of a peculiar anomaly that the wts is still around and functioning in reflection of its decades and now complete century that the wts has been bullshitting to people .

  organizations like the church of god have shrunk dramatically from its heyday of the 1980's, this too was another organization that spread and grew by publishing its own magazine proclaiming a armageddon soon doctrine and its main publication was called " the truth " .

  i'm guessing some of this has to do with the fact that people who get lured into this cult aren't aware of its past, its doctrines, the people who started it and so forth.

  good point. my first (ex) wife is a born in.. both her fanatic parents are long dead...both my more liberal parents are gone too.

  i sometimes wonder if my ex wife will die before me--we are about the same age. our daughter and husband have 4 girls of their own--so no elders there ! will they still stay in the cult when granma dies ?

  my older son (41) is d/f and long gone from it. just my younger son (39)..who i think is a m/s--but no contact from him in 30 years now.
